Establishment of the National Institute of Labour Studies is the fulfilment of a long felt need   of Sri Lanka.  Although concept was in discussion for almost half a century, finally it was materialized under the concept of "Mahinda Chintana".

The leadership, guidance and support of H.E. the President, Hon.Athauda Senevirathna, Minister of Labour Relations and Manpower and Mr.Mahinda Madihahewa,  secretary are the main strengths of this institute.
